Oh wow, that was an S2 announcement at the end, wasn't it?

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

kinda, the art director of the game Hoshieve also mention 2023 in their commemorative artwork for this eps. altho imo it's too soon, final product matters more after all considering most of those that promotes this shows are the players to the non players, and if we don't see it as good enough it would be hard to convince them

MasaChan • 1 year ago

yes, Arknights: Perish in Frost

Even though I didn't know an inch of Arknights' lore before this anime... I'd say I still enjoyed this somewhat.

I would download the game and play it... But honestly I don't wanna have another Genshin 2.0 situation lol. Who knows, maybe one day when I'll finally complete Genshin, complete all of the games in my backlog — I'll give this game a go.

Ellias Ainsworth • 1 year ago

this whole serie sucks for the simple raison that Exusiai never said "APPLE PIE!!"

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

finally the last episode! and with it the last price of Amiya and RI ideals have been paid, by the blood of the infecteds once again. it is the last price, atleast for now. RIP Misha and Alex, undeniably the victims of this age old war against the disease and against fate itself.

and that include the end of the 1st part of the Reunion Arc, Prelude to Dawn or this eps particularly, ch 3: Stinging Shock in the game. we don't know how long till season 2, some said the exact time next year but im ready to wait till 2024 if they can improve totally from this season.

plus ch 4-6 are 10 times better atleast than ch 0-3 in the game. i hope Yostar can band together with Trigger as one of their long partner in producing anime or maybe Cloverworks too so that they can definitely improve the intensity of their fight scene. other than that all aspects has been on point especially the atmosphere, background art detail, texture and the superb color composition which what made AK bleakness and grittiness as one of a kind.

final verdict, 7.2/10 on this season for me. qnd i can see that they could improve it in the future.

it might not be the best for anime only, but i believes it's not as convoluted as some may thought, the lore and exposition are told comprehensively even too comprehensive to some, but unfortunately AK setting is THAT hard to explain especially the lore. we seldomly use existing templates of setting in fantasy from the magic system or the world itself, so it's hard to make it self explanatory for non players/readers.

but i think much of that basic exposition has been said in this season so next one, if there will be, it's gonna be a more complex one, such as the world politics.

i hope i can be here too next season to explain some stuff and thanks for anyone that bother to read all of this, i hope it could be of help even just for a little. i love Arknight so much and i think it's truly one of the best story in recent times in gaming and anime, it got one of the best music too (just search Wlfmstr Arknight in youtube, or Operation Blade/Pine Soot/Dawnseeker), the best and most extensive irl reference used, and best character design and diversity in culture. qs always ask me anything you want to know about

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Im going to go against the grain here, Honestly f Misha. All my homies hate Misha. She knew Alex was in the wrong. She only joined because she feels guilt he died.

Thats like if I were offered to join ISIS because my childhood friend is in ISIS and then they got killed, and for some reason I decided OK I will join ISIS a terror group because my childhood friend was fighting so hard for me.

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

well imma obviously give the benefit of the doubt here. she's barely 10+ perhaps, living with something 10 times worst than cancer and being hunted by authorities ever since just bcs of it. living in the worst slums and experiencing a genocide by the Ursus gov since so little. now imma ask you to think again after you experience all of that, which sadly, there's almost impossible to have someone irl experienced all that and watch this anime.

don't worry tho, not a lot actually care about Misha and Alex in the game back then. but the studio elevate it this far, that's great accomplishment

Dazed • 1 year ago

It would be more like if you and your friend grew up in poverty, ISIS extended their hand to your friend and procuring for him all the basic needs he (& you) need to fight for day in & day out. You didn't join, but he's sharing these gifts with you, without getting you involved.

And all they wanted from him is to fight against the unfair governement that made it so kids like you & him remained poor.

You end up being approached by someone of the other side. After some talking, wherein the other person relays the dangers you'll be facing if you keep enjoying their benevolence for free, they vouch to get you out of ISIS their grasp. An ISIS colleague of your friend finds this out and informs your friend that you're being kidnapped. In the ensuing struggle between both sides, your friend with the intent of saving you, gets killed by the guy that promised you an exit-ticket.

You would ofcourse take the exit-ticket. Or am I mistaken?

Lawrence Herman • 1 year ago

to make it simple

it's like seeing ur childhood friend able to survive by joining ISIS, then somehow government say to you that they (Government) isn't like ISIS, Government doesn't kill because Government want to save anyone.

then at front of ur eyes the same person from Government killed your friend

Kunare • 1 year ago

Yeah my friend who was running Kamikaze style to the governments most valuable person like a dumbass. I'd learn from his mistake and not get involved in the fight. The government wants to heal me and give me some semblance of a normal life while ISIS wants me to risk my life to fight for their cause which is to save people like them even though they just killed and displaced a city full of people like them that I was also a part of making their fault I am even in this mess.

Episode • 1 year ago

Good for you to be able to stick to that perspective. Keep it that way.

Lawrence Herman • 1 year ago

Misha join Reunion because he saw Alex is killed after Amiya convinced her that Rhode's Island is different,

Misha's excuse to join Reunion after what happened is kinda acceptable,

are we even watching same show ? lmao

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Joining a terror group is never acceptable.

Virescent • 1 year ago

Super easy to say. Terror groups today exist and thrive mainly because of the US and their little pet organization NATO invaded and destroyed some countries. It's a response of revenge. If you want to punish someone, don't start with the Reunion. Destroy the Ursus government and army first. The Rhodes Island does everything so wrong.

Quendi • 1 year ago

Well the problem is that many of todays terror groups existed in some way shape or form even before any invasion on the contries took place so the whole "it's a response of revenge" doesn't really quite fly imo. Sure that's not quite the case for Reunion as far as we know since they sprung up after the infected had been attacked. As for destroying the Ursus goverment...well that sure is a lofty goal considering that Rhodes Island is struggling to deal with Reunion already. And lets say there would be able to actually do it and destroy the goverment/army then what? Instate a new goverment? With what people though? You say Rhodes Island does everything wrong but the things you bring up would prolly just get everyone killed at which point "curing" the infected is out of the picture.

wolfycooki3s • 1 year ago

I also love Arknights and Hypergryph too.
Can't believe this music company made a game just to prmote their music...

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

and i can't believe that they don't use Starset in the anime, God if they actually use Monster and Unbecoming for the trailer..

Byno • 1 year ago

I'll see you in the next season when it comes, fellow Dokutah! The next one should cover my favourite chapter, chapter 6

ChiliPot • 1 year ago

Honestly same, it was an 8/10 for the first three eps for me but then dropped to a 7/10..

HOWEVER. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Season two will cover the better chapters up to frostnova and I am so not ready QwQ
Im also hyped to see how they'll handle Mephisto's horde powers.

vovan1 • 1 year ago

5/10 for anime, too generic for me. Maybe game was more fun.
Most of budget was invested into MC's face expressions xD

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

I gotta agree since it was too confusing and boring as our body Whoever put it. It's a definitely a 5/10

Tom • 1 year ago

i highly doubt the stuff about the story being that good or the exaggeration about character design. you may love something but it shouldnt cloud ones viewpoint on it (just thinking logical. may or may not be true)

anyway, its a shame all that good stuff is part of a silly looking tower defense game instead of something "real"

what exactly did you mean with "irl reference" and "diversity in culture"?

ps. the music remains bloody marvelous. requiem is a masterpiece

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

story part might be subjective especially if you don't play the games, and those who can't appreciate TD games after all. i don't like TD but here i am 3,5 yrs later since release and still playing it like q zealot bcs it's just more than just a game, it's an unparalled experience when you follow all especially by the CN side, no other developers of mobile game loved their game and innovate to such crazy height like HG did to AK.

so with the irl ref and diversity in culture, i can't tell much if you don't play the game bcs much of it are hidden there not just in characterization like FGO. all i can say is that rn AK is the only mobile games that have fully Italian VA, not just accent. and might possibly have Russian or German later.

for the design tho? idk, all i can say is Emperor's Blade, Nachzehrer King, Black Knight, Last Knight, High Inquisitor, Empress Voice, Tola The Nightzmora, Silverlance Pegasus, and Troupe Master. those are my types of design and they're just NPC, nothing hit harder than that in mobile game atleast imo. if it's not your taste then again it is subjective

Tom • 1 year ago

not saying its bad, but in the end its just tower defense, which doesnt really fit the "unparalled experience".

well, i only know their songs and how they use german, russian, chinese , japense singer etc.

yep, it has some good designs in there

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

that's why i said it's more than just a game, just thinking that this TD has gone this big already, if it's the conventional 3d world how much bigger it could even get?

but that doesn't always hold true, just being another anime rpg 3d wouldn't make a game memorable and stand out among the others. only PGR i would say have achieved that in 3D market overall from such a unique mechanic, godlike ost and design, Genshin only got it's place bcs it's the first one in gacha with open world, and pandemic helped it's fame.

Quendi • 1 year ago

Honestly the same time next year seems possible since they ended this with the announcement of the next season being in production already.

jffrso • 1 year ago

One more cliché, "you say you are different but do the same thing", so, I don't know if you noticed dear character, but they are attacking and trying to kill my companions, do you want me to hug and give flowers?

vovan1 • 1 year ago

"We'll never get free
Lamb to the slaughter
What you gon' do when there's blood in the water?
The price of your greed is your son and your daughter
What you gon' do when there's blood in the water?"

Episode • 1 year ago

Ayy, never expected to see a song reference here.

vovan1 • 1 year ago

I'm actually surprised no one else posts song refs. I doubt i'm the only one listening to amvs.

Vlad • 1 year ago

I'd sure give them flowers stuffed into their orifices...

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Umm, it'd be better if you said "casket" instead of orifices smh.

Vlad • 1 year ago

I meant turning their orifices into caskets... Do I need to explain it a bit more in detail? I could paint a vivid picture, if you like, but then again, I don't want to lose my account...

Kunare • 1 year ago

Are you lacking sticks to impale people with because you seem a bit grumpy?

Vlad • 1 year ago

Yes. Even though officially under enviromental protection, the carpathian forests are being cut down relentlessly and what is this landscape without the namegiving trees (Transsilvania contains the word for forest)?
So, yes, I am a little grumpy. Still, there are enough torture methods and execution methods that don't requite wood to fix my mood...

F-G • 1 year ago

Yeah, that's a problem with the adaptation.
In the game, this place is a rally point for Reunion and a medical camp. Most of the people in there are supposed to be wounded and Skullshaterer is fighting to protect the people that can't fight from the LGD that wants to eradicate them. The LGD doesn't hesitate for a second to kill infected (as they should), and have encircled the place, leaving them no choice but to fight.
Rhodes Island, for all its talk, sides with the LGD that is launching an assault on a camp full of a mix of non-combatants and possible combatants. Meaning that anyone is a possible threat, but also nothing more than an uprising citizen. The worst kind of thing in urban warfare. Because in the end, you mostly kill former civilians.

They didn't put enough emphasis on how Skullshaterer is a beacon of hope to the infected in his battalion, (though I guess the imagery did its work), as the reappearance of Skullshaterer (Misha) is really what allows the infected wounded and fighters to give the slip to the LGD, as she serves as the rearguard.
By putting on the mask, Misha saves countless lives (in her eyes, she doesn't know enough about Reunion to know their lives are going to be sacrificed anyway), so she is more than justified when she says "you are no different".
Just by helping the LGD and siding with them, RI cannot claim that they don't hurt the infected.

Kunare • 1 year ago

Hugging someone who's trying to blow up your loved one is probably not a good idea.

Asagrimmr • 1 year ago

I'm not saying you have to like killing or whatever but man who cares, he would've blown himself up along with who knows how many others, it's like the trolley problem but instead of the one guy being on the one track he's in the common segment before the fork

Divine demon GOD Aris • 1 year ago

they making it sound like skullshatterer was a saint and not a lunatic on a suicide mission

Asagrimmr • 1 year ago

Then again martyrdom is an established way to sainthood

JadeJade • 1 year ago

It definitely had some flaws that could have been fixed had this been a full 12 episode show. I think it would have been better if they stuck to their original plan of getting Doctor to Rhodes Island instead of this Misha side quest thing.

But I still liked it. Amiya is adorable, the art is nice, the worldbuilding is great, and the atmosphere in general is pretty tense. I will give this a generous 7.5/10

Would be higher if they showed the rapping penguin 😤

Deus The Great • 1 year ago

Well, season 2 was already announced, we will see more of Little Donkey probably next year.

Monkey D. Luna • 1 year ago

Haven't played the game... nor really followed the story that well... what I gather is that Amiya has this naive idealism and wants to talk no jutsu it out w/ Misha... but if someone like Skullsh!tterer is shooting grenades at me and my comrades, I'd murderize the sh!t outta him. Dragon lady is correct, hesitation in the battlefield means death.

And Misha saw Skullsh!tter shooting grenades at people, and she was like "why d'ja kill him?!" O_o?

5/10

Divine demon GOD Aris • 1 year ago

and misha saw skullshatterer with a bomb strapped to his chest leaping to the doktah

galvind • 1 year ago

I got to say really enjoy Arknights: PRELUDE TO DAWN I've never played the game (nor do I have any attention to) but I enjoyed nonetheless, thought there is some complaints I have like drop in quality in episode 4-5 and a bit in 6 maybe there is some other things but I'll stop there, but overall it was great and now they announced a second season which is called "perish in frost" in which I'm excited to see where it will go from here. 8/10

Geryuganshoop • 1 year ago

Yostar studio (the one that made the game anime pv since 3 yrs ago) so fqr can only made eps 1, 7 and 9 out of 8 eps. they definitely need nore manpower but the quality of those eps speaks volume to their experience, as anything other than fight scene have been superb overall (expression, shooting angle, bg art, textures and details, and ofc the color compositioning) which made the whole atmosphere, and setting the rights atmosphere is much harder than just having good fight scene sakuga here and there.

aside from 3 of those, the works are outsourced

galvind • 1 year ago

the facial expressions among the characters were absolutely god tier in this entire season to be honest😅hoping that they'll get more help in the next season, when it will release.

Dazed • 1 year ago

'nor do I have any intention to.'

Welp... guess the marketing failed. Not that I'm suprised. This is nice and all, but doesn't really do much to get you really invested in the world.

Tom • 1 year ago

no need to push the rating that much. 5/10 is perfectly fine
